Words on the Waves is the first writers festival to take place on the Central Coast, and each year in June it offers an array of author talks, workshops, cinema screenings, literary cruises, book launches and more. In 2024, hundreds of Australia’s leading novelists, journalists and artists come together for fiery debate, brave histories and life-affirming stories. From politics to literature, historical fiction to memoir, there's something for everyone – past guests include cinema legend Bryan Brown, award-winning writer Charlotte Wood, OzHarvest founder Ronni Kahn, and Children's Laureate Ursula Dubosarsky. There is even a free day of storytelling and book-inspired play for kids and their families!
