Join Carys in her studio for a two and a half day intensive masterclass in clay. This course is perfect for beginners wishing to immerse themselves in pottery or intermediate potters desiring concentrated studio time to further develop their skills. Course dates The course will commence on the 22nd June. Please note the break in between day 2 and 3 to allow pieces to dry and be fired. You will need to be available for all sessions to complete the course. Students will be asked to design a main project to work on and potentially complete a number of smaller pieces alongside this project if scope allows. Carys will consult each person on their project to ensure it is feasible. There will also be a number of project examples available at the studio to choose from if desired. Key learnings Studio Safety and safe clay practices How to break down a larger pottery project Hand building techniques - pinch, coil, slab, joining and adding appendages Surface decoration techniques Wheel throwing and trimming Introduction to glaze chemistry Glaze application and simple tests Glazing to achieve the best results How to load a kiln Course fee includes: All clay, equipment including wheels and tools, glazes, firing, tuition. Tea, coffee and morning tea will also be provided.
