Violin Virtuoso - Soloist Fireworks - Queensland Symphony Orchestra

Starts: Friday, 28 June 2024
Ends: Friday, 28 June 2024
The meaning of Begleitungsmusik zu einer Lichtspielscene is simple: it’s music to accompany a film. So just like your favourite soundtracks, you’ll hear an eruption of character, mood, and emotion filling the hall. Stravinsky himself called it 'the best piece of real film music ever written' – but the plot twist is, there was never a film to go with it! After Schoenberg’s novelty score, conductor Asher Fisch will lead our Orchestra through Sibelius’s rousing Violin Concerto in D minor. It’s a rare treat to watch Italian violinist Francesca Dego play this impassioned solo. Based in London, Francesca tours the globe with her 17th-Century violin, so don’t miss her when she stops to perform in Brisbane with our musicians. This generous program also includes Brahms’ invigorating Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor. It opens peacefully until the composer pulls a bait and switch – then you find yourself hurtling along his tense but toe-tapping musical odyssey! Schoenberg Begleitungsmusik zu einer Lichtspielscene, Op.34 Sibelius Violin Concerto in D minor Brahms (orch. Schoenberg) Piano Quartet No.1 in G minor CONDUCTOR Asher Fisch SOLOIST Francesca Dego, violin
