The Stonka Fishing Challenge

Starts: Friday, 09 August 2024
Ends: Sunday, 11 August 2024
The Stonka Fishing Challenge is an annual three-day event held in August by The Bah Bait and Tackle in Cape Gloucester Resort. The event offers various fishing categories including Reef, Pelagic, Estuary, Crab and CrayFish, and a new addition of a spearfishing category. Participants can enjoy daily weigh-ins, nightly mega raffles, and entertainment such as Mudcrab Races, Battle of the Bays Tug-of-War, and Fishermans Games. The event also has activities for children and live music from noon until late, with food and drinks available for purchase. The event aims to showcase quality Australian-made fishing and crabbing gear, with a portion of the profits going to the Leukaemia House in Townsville. The organizers strive to bring back the old-school Aussie fun and create a safe, fair, and enjoyable experience for all participants. On Sunday, there is a special Funday for kids with face painting, Whitsunday Reptiles, rides, games, and more. Participants can also look forward to the Major Door Prize, which will be awarded to one lucky competitor. Overall, the Stonka Fishing Challenge is a non-profit organization that promotes community engagement, sportsmanship, and environmental awareness. It is an opportunity for fishing and outdoor enthusiasts to come together and celebrate the Great Australian Outdoors.
