As part of the Riverina Conservatorium of Music's 2024 Visiting Artists Series. The Acacia Quartet: Lisa Stewart – violin Doreen Cumming – violin Stefan Duwe – viola Anna Martin-Scrase – cello Featuring Hamish Tait – piano Founded in 2010 by four friends with a passion for chamber music, the Acacia Quartet has quickly won great respect for their programs which often couple established repertoire with the unorthodox. Acacia have recorded twelve albums, with ‘Blue Silence’ earning a nomination for an APRA-AMCOS Art Music ‘Award for Excellence’. Acacia’s engagements include the Sydney Opera House, City Recital Hall Sydney, Melbourne Recital Hall, as well as extensive touring internationally. This program will feature Peter Tchaikovsky String Quartet No. 1 in D major, Op. 11, Dmitri Shostakovich Piano Quintet in G minor, Op. 57 with RCM pianist Hamish Tait as well as a surprise piece by a contemporary Australian composer. “There are many fine string quartets on the Australian musical landscape. The Acacia Quartet has earned their place amongst the best.” – LOUD MUSIC TRUST Refreshments: Wine Bar with a selection of CSU wines will be open prior to the concert.
