Taiwan Film Festival in Australia is coming back to Melbourne Village Cinemas Jam Factory. Opening Night Film: Old Fox. Directed by Hsiao Ya-Chuan and set in 1980s Taiwan, Old Fox captures the nostalgic economic optimism and working-class dreams of the era. The film won four Golden Horse Awards, including Best Director and Best Original Film Score. Executive producers include Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Osaka Fumiko, and Elisa Y.H. Lin. International Co-Production Projects: Lee Hong-Chi debuts as a director with Love Is A Gun, a neo-noir drama. Chong Keat-Aun returns with Snow in Midsummer, exploring Malaysian history. Michihito Fujii's 18x2 Beyond Youthful Days, with Chang Chen as Executive Producer, tells a tale of young love. Salli is a romantic family dramedy. Starstruck Section: Breaking And Re-entering, by Wang Ding-Lid, is a comedic action film. Tales Of Taipei features stories from directors like Yin Chen-Hao and Wong Yee-Lam. Chen Hung-I’s Fish Memories is a poetic masterpiece. Documentary and First Nations Section: Free Beats: The Musical Journey Of Chen Ming Chang explores Chen Ming-Chang’s influential music career. Braving The Peak presents Taiwan's Central Mountain Range. And Miles To Go Before I Sleep examines systemic issues through police footage. The Woman Carrying The Prey follows Heydi Mijung, a Truku female hunter, alongside other First Nations films.
