Tea Ceremony with Jayanto Tan

Tea Ceremony with Jayanto Tan

Starts: Sunday, 27 October 2024
Ends: Sunday, 27 October 2024
Join exhibiting artist, Jayanto Tan, in a tea ceremony performance celebrating his work The Moon Garden, which represents both memories of his beautiful mother and his own healing through the collection of used tea bags from many cups of tea. The large-scale work explores cross-cultural boundaries between East and West, and references immigrant journeys across land and water. This is a unique performance embracing culture and community. This memorial performance is profoundly sensitive, inviting contemplation on themes of migration, freedom, friendship and neighborhood. Please bring your own tea cup to participate in a unique ceremony. Free event. Bookings essential. This event is part of the Dobell Drawing Prize #23 Program. The biennial Dobell Drawing Prize is Australia's leading prize for drawing, an unparalleled celebration of technique, innovation and expanded drawing practices.
