Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra | A Night At The Proms

Starts: Sunday, 08 September 2024
Ends: Sunday, 08 September 2024
In a high-spirited program of music and vibrant colour, the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra (SCSO) will celebrate the Last Night of The Proms with British and Australian favourites. Featuring Australian composer Sean O’Boyle’s Olympia Australis from the Sydney Olympics, and his Sunrise on the Coast, inspired by the Banjo Paterson poem of the same name, the concert includes The Man from Snowy River and other Australian classics from Percy Grainger, Peter Allen and The Seekers. Soprano Renae Suttie, joined by Dean Doyle, will sing favourites from both hemispheres, such as The White Cliffs of Dover, We’ll Meet Again, I am Australian and I Still Call Australia Home. With perennial British favourites including Elgar’s Nimrod, the Dambusters March and the Spitfire Prelude and Fugue, A Night at the Proms will be a feast of celebratory music and imagery. Founded in 1972 and now conducted by Dr. Fletcher Mitchell, the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra believes in providing exciting, accessible music of all periods in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
