Shunyam Smith is based on the Far South Coast of NSW, her studio of many years is surrounded by Spotted Gum forests. She previously lived in the High Country of NSW and Victoria which is the inspiration for the work in this exhibition, entitled ‘there is always beauty..’ Her close relationship with nature has resulted in her work being predominantly about her concerns for the environment, particularly forests constantly under the pressure of logging, bushfires, and climate change.
