Rising from the Ashes : Newcastle Youth Orchestra

Rising from the Ashes : Newcastle Youth Orchestra

Starts: Sunday, 29 September 2024
Ends: Sunday, 29 September 2024
Rising from the Ashes: An Orchestral Suite celebrates the transformative power of art, culture, and community connection. Across two concerts, Newcastle Youth Orchestra will deliver a unique program integrating live musical performances, visual art, and dance, focusing on showcasing never-before-performed works by Newcastle composer Jacob Cummins. The focal point of the concert is the new composition Rising from the Ashes: An Orchestral Suite, inspired by the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. This piece will be performed by NYO, along with some exciting guest musicians. The National College of Dance, directed by Brett Morgan, will accompany the orchestra, enriching the performance and allowing the audience to become a part of the piece. A backdrop of local photographer Dru Maher-Brooks images adds a visual layer to the immersive experience. This project not only celebrates the cultural narratives of Newcastle but fosters unity and understanding among diverse communities, promoting inclusivity and enriching the city's cultural landscape. Amplified guitar and projected video display (no strobe effects). Wheelchair accessible.
