Yazzbar loves bringing new acts to town and this October they want to welcome Richard Ashby & the Tonewheels! Drawing inspiration from 1960s Rock, Blues and Boogaloo, Richard Ashby & the Tonewheels deliver a soulful yet gritty performance infused with the stylistic and iconic sounds of Guitar, Hammond organ, Bass and Drums. Their music comprises Blues and Boogaloo standards, groove-laden arrangements of 1960’s pop classics and original pieces by guitarist Richard Ashby. The Tonewheels trick bag combines a mastery of jazz improvisation, the raw, edginess of blues and in-the-pocket grooves to create a fresh and creative approach to a classic guitar and organ combo. The group is performing regularly throughout Sydney and NSW at venues including Miss Celie's, Butchers Brew Bar, Django Bar, the Gasoline Pony, Two Doctors Whiskey Tavern (Leura), NIMA (Newcastle) and held a residency at Ramblin Rascal Tavern. Ashby's latest release 'Arkadia Blues' has spent time in the Australian Blues & Roots Airplay Chart Top 10 for 2023, as well as the UK Blues Airplay Chart Top 40. Arkadia Blues was recently featured in the US Blues publication 'Blues Blast Magazine' and is receiving regular airplay nationally and abroad (UK, Canada & the US).
