Revisit Yesteryear at Laggan

Starts: Saturday, 05 October 2024
Ends: Sunday, 06 October 2024
Experience a long weekend of Australian country-style family fun! Learn about the early pioneering days in Laggan. Laggan is nestled in the Upper Lachlan Shire and is rich in stories, history and country lifestyle. Friday night Willowtree Sculpture Gardens will host a light opera in their amazing outdoor amphitheater. Elsa Huber, Counter Soprano will be accompanied by pianist Kim. Saturday, join the guided walk through the cemetery with a talk by a local historian in period costume. Morning tea, markets, and buskers at Laggan Hall, and family fun games and old and new-style sheep shearing demonstrations at the recreation reserve. Visit the Yurt home with an off-grid lifestyle. And see the rammed earth home with quirky gardens. There is a vineyard with demonstrations on vine care. The Rural Fire station is open for safety tips and info. Special guests on Saturday will be Frank Finger and Annie the Muster Dog from ABC Television. Saturday evening around the Billy will feature a Bake N Brew - cooking competition, bush poetry, music, storytelling, limerick competition, and hobbyhorse gymkhana. Try your hand at bra flinging and boot chucking to raise money for cancer. There will be a Car Rally and Bunyip Spotting on Sunday, showing locations and POI with vehicles navigating dirt and tarred roads with stunning vistas. An exciting experience and a memorable time for all.
