The Redlands Coast Candle Lighting Vigil remembers those who have died because of domestic and family violence. This vigil will be one of many held simultaneously to mark the beginning of Queensland's Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month lighting up the state in remembrance of those who have lost their lives. Each year in Australia more than 100 women, children and men lose their lives because of domestic and family violence. The vigil will not only remember those who have died but will also acknowledge the profound immediate and long-term impact on families, loved ones and children left behind. The ceremony is a respectful memorial service supported by all levels of government, local domestic and family violence service groups, police and emergency services. Date: Wednesday 1 May 2024 Time: 5.30pm Venue: Raby Bay Harbour Park, Shore Street West, Cleveland ‘Walk the Talk’ walk Join the Zonta Club of Wynnum Redland and Soroptimist International Bayside to ‘Walk the Talk’ to the Candle Lighting Vigil to show your support to eliminate domestic and family violence. 4.45pm – Meet at Kyling Corner (Cnr Waterloo & Middle streets, Cleveland) 5.00pm – Walk as a united group to Raby Bay Harbour Park, Cleveland 5.30pm – Attend the Redlands Coast Candle Lighting Vigil.
