Onam Festival at Babajis Warburton

Onam Festival at Babajis Warburton

Starts: Sunday, 15 September 2024
Ends: Sunday, 15 September 2024
Chef Hatted restaurant, Babajis, can't wait to bring their biggest festival of the year, Onam, to the mountains of Warburton! Expect a unique South Indian experience with an Aussie touch. There'll be a Aussie wildlife meet and greet and games for the kids. This is Babajis, proud of their Kerala heritage, cooking at their finest. Best of all - its open to all to come and experience! Onam is the annual 'Harvest Festival' of the Southern Indian home state, Kerala. It's a time when Keralans come together, no matter your background, to enjoy great food and celebrate with mates. The star of the show is the 'Onam Sadya' - a dish served on fresh banana leaf with 20 authentic Kerala dishes. It takes days to prepare an Onam feast, each vegetable hand-cut with intention. From plantain to taro, snake bean and watermelon, the freshest vegetables are sourced, Kerala stir fries, pachadis, curries and daals created. Traditionally vegetarian, a range of optional Kerala meat sides will be available. Experience 'traditional serving', your plate is always piled abundantly high. Babajis Warburton is a 'home away from home' for Keralans. Just 75km from Melbourne and so much like the Western Ghats, Warburton is well worth the drive. Enjoy a walk along the Yarra River or head to the majestic Redwood Forest for some family photos.
