Omar Musa album launch w/ Lucy Sugerman

Starts: Friday, 03 May 2024
Ends: Friday, 03 May 2024
Omar will be launching his new full length album of poetry and music "The Fullness" — created in joy and polished with grief. "The Fullness" is a lyrical and eclectic hip hop album, where Omar poetically explores themes such as environmental destruction, addiction, grief, grappling with identity in a post-9/11 world and ultimately, rejuvenation. He will be playing the album in full. Omar Musa is a Bornean-Australian rapper, poet, visual artist and author from Queanbeyan, Australia. He has released four poetry books , four hip-hop records, and received a standing ovation at TEDx Sydney at the Sydney Opera House. His debut novel “Here Come the Dogs” was long-listed for the International Dublin Literary Award and Miles Franklin Award and he was named one of the Sydney Morning Herald’s Young Novelists of the Year in 2015. His one-man play, “Since Ali Died”, won Best Cabaret Show at the Sydney Theatre Awards in 2018. He has had several solo exhibitions of his woodcut prints. He lives between Brooklyn and Borneo. Bold and unafraid to speak her mind, twenty year old Lucy Sugerman writes about her coming of age experiences of modern love and life, inspired by her songwriting heroes from the 70s. With a knack for confessional storytelling tied with assured pop hooks, Sugerman’s addictive and youthful energy perpetuates her music, even in her most vulnerable moments.
