Nurture and a Nice Glass of Red Exhibition

Starts: Monday, 05 August 2024
Ends: Saturday, 31 August 2024
A exhibition of recent works by Yorke Peninsula artist Plaxy Folland. Her art is inspired by the garden, her funny, and now famous black cat, the Little Hussy, and the local landscape. Expect to see some fresh and fruity autumny still-lifes, Hussy on the table and generally flaunting herself, peninsula clouds and coast, and a surprise or two. All best experienced with a 'nice glass of red' in hand. Plaxy lives and paints on Yorke Peninsula following a 25 year career in libraries in Adelaide, Sydney and Ardrossan. Plaxy attended Art School at the University of South Australia 1986-1988, BAVA (Bachelor of Arts, Visual Arts) Since retiring in 2016 she has held three successful solo exhibitions in SA at the Balaklava Courthouse Gallery; the South Coast Regional Art Centre, Goolwa; and the Front Room Gallery, Edithburgh; and is a regular exhibitor at the Burra Regional Gallery, where she was recipient of the 2021 'Contemporary Prize’ in the annual Art of the Flower and Garden exhibition In 2023 Plaxy was awarded second prize in the Fine Arts section of Yorke Peninsula’s SALA exhibition ‘Grounded’ at Ardrossan, and was also selected as a finalist in the Tatiara Art Prize. Her work is held in many private collections in Australia and overseas.
