New Annual festival returns this September school holidays for ten days of art, culture, and creativity in Muloobinba Newcastle. Immerse yourself in award-winning dance, diverse live music, boundary-pushing performance, First Nations music and workshops, interactive art and unique theatre by local and nationally renowned artists. The festival opens with First Night Party taking over King Street. The party will be headlined by proud Gamilaraay man Mitch Tambo, whose didgeridoo, dance and song blends traditional Aboriginal sounds and language with contemporary beats and production. The night features mesmerising performances by Tower Divas, along with DJ sets, local bands, roving performances, gourmet food trucks and much more! Looking for school holiday activities? Check out WonderCity an audio wayfinding adventure starting at the Civic Park Fountain, book into 10 Minute Dance Parties inside a shipping container or join Curious Legends for the Whale Song parade of giant illuminated LED puppets from Newcastle Beach. From the family-friendly to the far out, New Annual's inclusive mix of free, ticketed and community events offers incredible experiences for everyone.
