Starts: Wednesday, 24 September 2025
Ends: Wednesday, 24 September 2025
Rich, clear, detailed and warm, connect intimately with the sound of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in the stunning acoustic of Elder Hall. It’s the perfect setting to enjoy a relaxed lunchtime concert. This year, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra explores popular works by British composer Vaughan Williams. In Matinée Series 3 – Romance, find comfort and calm in Vaughan Williams’ deeply atmospheric Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, where a Renaissance melody is beautifully reimagined for strings in this transportive work. Then venture into the sound world of Dvořák’s Romance in which solo violinist Elizabeth Layton will enchant you with ravishing melody. The concert concludes with Grażyna Bacewicz’s vibrant Concerto for String Orchestra.
