Lost Terrains

Starts: Friday, 16 August 2024
Ends: Sunday, 25 August 2024
Lost Terrains is a solo exhibition by Ruth McDermott of textile and lighting-related work celebrating the dramatic yet fragile Icelandic landscape. The creative rationale behind this project came from an arts residency in Iceland in 2022 when Dr Ruth McDermott travelled to the volcano (the black) and glacier (the white) areas. Using her expertise as a light artist she will use light sources and textured textiles (worked with heat and pressure to create the necessary patterns) to create a series of large-scale screens and three-dimensional works suspended works reflecting her experience of these landforms.
