Koala Detection and Habitat Restoration Field Day

Koala Detection and Habitat Restoration Field Day

Starts: Saturday, 18 May 2024
Ends: Saturday, 18 May 2024
Join Richmond Landcare Inc. and Ballina Shire Council for an immersive workshop where you'll gain invaluable insights into caring for koala habitats from a seasoned local bush regenerator. Whether you steward eucalypt forests or simply wish to learn how to maintain their health, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Learn the technique of performing an SAT Survey (Spot Assessment Technique), a user-friendly method for assessing koala presence that anyone can master with a bit of guidance. Your contribution to this data collection can play a crucial role in monitoring koala presence across the landscape and guiding the allocation of vital conservation resources in our region. The workshop will be held on private property in Tintenbar, boasting healthy natural re-growth and diverse ex-plantation forests at varying stages of management. Spend the afternoon in the field, applying the newfound SAT Survey skills and observing firsthand how different forests are nurtured and managed. This event is a fully catered experience with morning tea and lunch provided. Spaces are limited.
