Is there a Planet B?

Is there a Planet B?

Starts: Tuesday, 13 August 2024
Ends: Friday, 16 August 2024
National Science Week brings science to the forefront in Australia with programs designed especially for non-scientists. When done right, science can be fun and understandable for all. This year the Ballarat Municipal Observatory is exploring the possibility of planet B, asking the question: "We live on a beautiful planet capable of sustaining life. but is it the only one?" The Ballarat Municipal Observatory is flying Australian astrophysicist, Rob Wittenmyer of Minerva Australis to Ballarat to speak at the feature event. Hear about Australian research into exoplanets - those worlds outside the solar system, you can also opt to enjoy some supper, dinner or telescope viewing. Other sessions will include talks, discussion and activities about how scientists find planets in other solar systems, viewing of celestial objects through a telescope, and looking for local wildlife. All events require prior ticket booking. Don't miss out, get yours today.
