Ipswich City Big Band 20th Anniversary Concert

Ipswich City Big Band 20th Anniversary Concert

Starts: Saturday, 31 August 2024
Ends: Saturday, 31 August 2024
Ipswich City Big Band’s anniversary concert as part of the Galvanised Festival celebrates twenty years of performance by and for members of the Ipswich community. The concert will display the varied talents of male and female vocalists, featured soloists and the Band across jazz standards and newer works from the jazz catalogue, and welcomes back all former members. Two Ipswich music teachers, Sharon McInnes and Rose Salamanesa, filled a gap in the local Arts scene by forming the big band in 2004, focussed on the opportunity for like-minded musicians to come together through a love of jazz music. Since inception the band has given many south-east Queensland musicians the opportunity to develop skills essential to swing, latin, funk, pop and rock music. Truly memorable highlights include three concerts at the Ipswich Civic Centre backing celebrated artists Emma Pask, Tenori and Hetty Kate.
