Learn the craft of the cooper with Tony Adams. This two-day workshop is an introduction to the craft of the cooper or barrel maker. White coopering is the making of straight-staved containers such as buckets that can be used for holding liquids. Your instructor, Tony Adams, will guide you through the process of making a barrel with hand tools. You will produce a wooden bucket complete with splayed and riveted metal hoops and a rope handle using traditional techniques. Held at Ballarat's Australian Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades, a world-class facility dedicated to learning and preserving Australia’s rare arts and trades through a series of workshops, masterclasses, events, and residencies.
