HOME in Queanbeyan Movie Night

HOME in Queanbeyan Movie Night

Starts: Friday, 17 May 2024
Ends: Friday, 17 May 2024
Join the HOME in Queanbeyan Movie Night, an annual fundraiser supporting a unique not-for-profit initiative in the community. This year, the event is featuring the heartwarming film The Miracle Club, alongside a silent auction, food, and drinks. It’s a perfect opportunity for people to meet others in the community, learn more about HOME and show support. HOME is community owned and funded. By attending this event, people are not just enjoying a movie night; they are actively helping to create positive outcomes for people living with an enduring mental illness. The ticket includes drinks, food, and the movie. People can come along from 6pm and enjoy a relaxing evening, celebrating and fundraising for HOME. All funds raised go to HOME in Queanbeyan. The Miracle Club is a movie that tells a story of Ballyfermot, Ireland, 1960. A hard-knocks community in outer Dublin marches to its own beat, rooted in traditions of loyalty, faith, and togetherness. There’s just one tantalizing dream for the women of Ballyfermot to taste freedom and escape the gauntlet of domestic life: to win a pilgrimage to the sacred French town of Lourdes. And with a little benevolent interference from their cheeky and rebellious priest, close friends Lily, Eileen, Dolly, and Sheila are the ‘lucky’ few to win this ticket of a lifetime at their riotous local raffle night.

Common Times acknowledges the traditional owners, first storytellers and custodians of the land we live on. We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ongoing connection to land, sea, and community. Their sovereignty was never ceded.
