Guided Forest Therapy Walk at Umbagong District Park, Belconnen

Guided Forest Therapy Walk at Umbagong District Park, Belconnen

Starts: Sunday, 05 May 2024
Ends: Sunday, 05 May 2024
Immerse yourself in this slow guided Forest Therapy morning walk beside Ginninderra Creek to experience the beauty and rich biodiversity of this place and deepen your connection with the watershed. Your guide will take you through a series of activities that involve slow walking, tuning into nature using all of your senses, sitting and observing and enjoying feeling connection. Slow down and allow your whole being to enjoy this time, just for you, to connect and return to yourself. Originating in Japan in the 1980s, Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing or immersion in the forest) was found to be an effective preventative health practice that also connected people more deeply with the beautiful forests. Ongoing research has shown that trees and plants give off volatile oils called phytoncides that have physiological and psychological benefits for us. The guided Forest Therapy walk will boost your immune system, reduce your stress, regulate pulse and blood pressure and help you feel calm amidst the everyday stresses of modern life. This three-hour guided walk is suitable for adults and children over 16 years.
