The Gloucester Mountain Man Tri Challenge is a unique multisport event, also known as an off-road triathlon. The format is different from a normal triathlon in that it consists of three off-road legs. Leg One is a 24-kilometre mountain bike ride along mountain and four-wheel drive roads, creek beds, cattle tracks, rain forest and open country. Leg Two consists of an 11-kilometre kayak paddle down the crystal-clear waters of the Barrington River. Leg Three is a nine-kilometre cross-country run nine-kilometre, through fields back into the town of Gloucester.
