Handcraft your own Zilli-Tar frame drum with instrument maker Matt Stonehouse. Over three days, you will use traditional hand tools and steam-bending methods to make your own drum. You will learn about timber species and selection, shaping the main drum shell, hand-hammering zills (cymbals), skin application and much more. At the end of the workshop, you will take your finished instrument home with you. Held at Ballarat's Australian Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades, a world-class facility dedicated to learning and preserving Australia’s rare arts and trades through a series of workshops, masterclasses, events and residencies.
