Experimental Weaving Workshop at the Grafton Regional Gallery

Experimental Weaving Workshop at the Grafton Regional Gallery

Starts: Saturday, 17 August 2024
Ends: Saturday, 17 August 2024
Join artist Jacqueline Stojanović for an experimental weaving workshop, presented alongside Pliable Planes: Expanded Textiles & Fibre Practices. Using repurposed canvas stretchers, participants will learn how to prepare their own 'lap looms'. Jacqueline will share basic weaving techniques, and participants will have the opportunity to design and create their own small tapestries to take home. Jacqueline is a multidisciplinary artist, weaver and educator whose practice spans weaving, drawing, assemblaege, and installation. Informed by travels across the Balkans, Caucasia, and the Middle East, she is interested in building upon the social and cultural histories of weaving within contemporary practice. Using modernist languages of abstraction, Jacqueline approaches weaving through an open use of raw materials, often utilising the grid as a structural device and framework. Jacqueline is represented by Haydens in Naarm Melbourne, Australia.
