Exhibition by Sue Quinlan Brain - You’re only here once

Starts: Sunday, 04 August 2024
Ends: Sunday, 18 August 2024
Ross Creek Gallery proudly presents painter, Sue Quinlan Brain’s exhibition, ‘You’re only here once’. Artist statement: "The work I've made in the past few years is of the place I see nearly every day. The quiet ho-hum of rural living has become art-worthy. It is the beauty of the ordinary that I want to paint and draw (it now seems extraordinary). The details of sheds, the untamed grass, farming equipment, the bush surrounding the property - a forever giving landscape. The everyday subjects of the farm demand attention with their contrasting forms, shapes and the way they change with the light and seasons. I capture the moment in front of me using a Plein Air approach combined with studio practice to expand and evolve. I primarily work in oil and acrylic paints, but also explore mixed media and on occasion elements of collage. My application of media and colour is at times subdued and quiet and at others bold and almost frantic. I am absorbed in this process and feel a sense of flow during creation. This immersion brings connection to the land I live on and a sense of contentment." During this exhibition Ross Creek Gallery is open Friday - Sunday 11-4pm and by appointment.
