Drawing in Silverpoint Workshop at the Rare Trades Centre

Drawing in Silverpoint Workshop at the Rare Trades Centre

Starts: Saturday, 21 September 2024
Ends: Saturday, 21 September 2024
Join fine artist Lisa Nolan for a beginner friendly workshop on drawing in silverpoint. Silverpoint is a traditional form of durable drawing that was used by masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael during the Renaissance, and is still used today. It requires the drawing surface to be prepared to receive the drawing, then using a silver stylus, building up a beautiful drawing that will last. This full-day workshop is a great introduction to drawing with silver where you will learn techniques regarding the preparation of the drawing surface, the tools you can draw with, how to create tone in your drawing, and finally how to measure, prepare and mount your drawing. At the end of the day, you will take your work of art home with you. Held at Ballarat's Australian Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades, a world-class facility dedicated to learning and preserving Australia’s rare arts and trades through a series of workshops, masterclasses, events, and residencies.
