The Dobell Festival of Art And Craft has been conducted annually by Wangi Lions for the last forty six years and attracts art and craft entries from the Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Hunter and Central Coast areas. The Festival is the opening event of the Lake Macquarie Council Dobell arts festival with an Opening Cocktail Party on the Friday evening attracting about 180 attendees for the awards and prize giving, and some 600 people viewing the Exhibition over the remainder of the weekend. The Dobell Festival features some 280 works of quality art, and a wide range of crafts including jewellery, ceramics and textiles. All art and craft exhibits are for sale. The resulting profits from sales commission and entry fees are distributed to local schools and charities. such as Allira House Women's refuge, the Salvation Army Drug And Alcohol Centre at Bonnell's Bay and Westlake's Netball Club.
