Destination Swing

Starts: Thursday, 15 August 2024
Ends: Thursday, 15 August 2024
The Dungeon Big Band celebrates their 20th year of existence in 2024. The band is an agglomeration of 17 amazing musicians who find their raison d’etre in the power of the big band. ‘Destination Swing’ highlights music about cities and countries from all over the world. It will also feature ‘Steel City Suite’, written by Andy Fiddes especially for the Dungeon Big Band, as a tribute to landmarks, streets and areas around the Newcastle region. Heather Price will also be joining us with her special creamy vocals. Tickets on sale soon! This concert is presented as part of Newcastle Music Festival. Visit Newcastle in August! There is so much to enjoy in this beautiful city – the weather is usually crisp and clear. Don’t miss Darby Street and its world of restaurants and designer shops. The light rail and bus services are frequent and convenient. There are plenty of great accommodation options. Watch for whales and dolphins from any beach vantage point. Enjoy the coastal walk to Bar Beach, and lunch at Merewether Surf House. Ride a bike along the scenic Fernleigh Track. Stroll in tranquil Blackbutt Reserve and Hunter Wetlands Centre: enjoy the Wetlands Centre’s excellent café. The Hunter Valley vineyards and beautiful Port Stephens are an hour away with fabulous dining options and tours. Image credit: Dungeon Big Band - Alex Jack Photography
