Join Thomas E.S.Kelly, a proud Minjungbal-Yugambeh, Wiradjuri, and Ni-Vanuatu man, and the award-winning co-founder of Karul Projects, Queensland’s premiere contemporary Indigenous dance company, for a special DANCE24 workshop. Thomas creates work that explores high-intensity physical performance, from a cultural practice fused with contemporary, incorporating voice and physical percussion. This intensive workshop is a chance to explore the movement, technique, and choreographic processes that are at the centre of Thomas’ practice. This workshop is designed for experienced and emerging performers, age 16+. Experienced – More than 5 years creative practice including formal training. Emerging – Less than 5 years creative practice, no requirement for formal training. Presented as part of DANCE24, an experimental dance festival from 22 May - 1 June. Accessibility Note Please note, this will be a high energy workshop with approximately 70% physical movement. It is suitable for dancers at an intermediate to advanced level.
