Tribute night with 10 piece band
For the first time at The Avoca Beach Theatre, a very special evening to celebrate the groundbreaking ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ albums and artists.
This will be an unforgettable performance of traditional Cuban music with a 10-piece Sydney-based band comprised of some of Australia’s best Latin music musicians.
Following sellout shows in Sydney and Melbourne in 2022, 2023 & 2024 the ‘Buena Vista Social Club tribute’ will bring to the Avoca theatre a very special tribute night featuring well-known songs from the Cuban ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ artists, Ibrahim Ferrer, Compay Segundo, Ruben Gonzalez, Omara Portuondo and Eliades Ochoa.
Formed in 1996, ‘The Buena Vista Social Club’ was a musical ensemble made up of older Cuban musicians. The group’s eponymous studio album was released in 1997, quickly becoming an international success. A ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ documentary was released in 1999 to critical acclaim.
The success of both the album and film sparked a world wide revival of interest in traditional Cuban music.
‘The Buena Vista Social Club tribute’ night will be a memorable experience,
Re-creating the authentic sounds of traditional Cuban music and paying tribute to these Cuban music legends.
