Be a Palaeontologist for a Day - School Holiday Activity

Starts: Thursday, 03 October 2024, 10:00 am
Ends: Thursday, 03 October 2024, 12:00 pm

Join us on this much anticipated workshop. It’s time to get kids off the screens and into our spring workshops these school holidays. They’ll learn life skills and how to use real tools while making friends and building confidence in the outdoors.

This is workshop will be held at the Plenty Gorge Park, where the spectacular gorge sets a backdrop for stunning landscape views and the abundant native wildlife. As we walk the tracks down to the gorge and marvel at the rock formations, shaped by ancient volcanic activity with te basalt on the west and sedimentary rock on the eastern side.

In our be a Palaeontologist for a Day workshop, you will join Palaeontologist Diana for a hands-on workshop that takes children back in time hundreds of millions of years to discover and learn all about fossils, bones and ancient remains in nature. There will be games, a bush walk and an opportunity to see real fossils and bones and even do a fossil craft activity to take home.

Suitable for children 4 - 12 y/o.

Parents are responsible for their children at all times and are encouraged to participate in the fun!

This school holiday program is an all weather outdoor session so participants need to make sure to bring weather appropriate protection. In the event of inclement weather the program will be either shifted to an undercover location. Cancellation will only occur in the event of extreme weather warnings: fire, strong winds, storm or high temperatures.

Bookings essential - please see link in the sidepanel.
