April Play - Snowed Up with a Duchess

April Play - Snowed Up with a Duchess

Starts: Sunday, 28 April 2024
Ends: Sunday, 28 April 2024
Snowed up with a Duchess by C.A.Castell Presented by Redland Museum & Theatre Redlands A theatrical gem discovered by the Museum’s Librarian, Liz Blumson, C. A. Castell’s Snowed up with a Duchess is a light and lovely “mistaken-identity” piece, set in pre-World War 1 England. Your ticket includes a delicious grazing box or afternoon tea, the show and entry into the Museum to browse through the fascinating displays. While essentially a drawing room comedietta, underneath the comedy there’s a sharp observation of changes rippling through world politics – and even through such unshakeable institutions as the British class system. There’s a snowstorm, a duchess, a housekeeper, a dressmaker –sorry, couturière – and a social climber. What could possibly go wrong? Join us in the Museum’s Virtual Radio Studio and find out… Produced to celebrate the Australian Heritage Festival (18 April – 19 May 2024), the National Trust Redlands Community Group invites you to join us for theatre and supper / afternoon tea. The theme this year for the Australian Heritage Festival is CONNECTIONS. To encourage the community to celebrate the rich and diverse stories of our Nation, strengthen cultural and historical ties and forge new bonds as well as celebrate our link to people, places and the past and the enduring connections that will shape the future of Heritage.
