A sum of the parts - SALA Exhibition

Starts: Friday, 02 August 2024
Ends: Saturday, 31 August 2024
A sum of the parts is an exhibition of paintings by local artist Paul Leditschke. Earthward vistas, landscapes and still lifes, accompanied by domestic sculptures born of wine barrels. The exhibition reveals an imaginative retelling of landscape painting and domestic product design. The reference images for the paintings were taking from above using a drone which caught the visual treasures otherwise hidden from our plane of view. Expired oak barrels - that have given their all to the glory of wine - have now been given to me and I have re-purposed them by cutting the curvy bilge section from each stave into thin slivers. The slivers are then glued together to form these beautiful domestic products.
