The 7th Taiwan Film Festival in Australia is returning to Sydney Event Cinemas George Street, featuring 12 sessions and 20 Australian premieres. The festival offers a diverse range of programs, from beautiful arthouse cinema for all cinephiles to enjoy, to international co-production projects that elevate cinema to another level, including stories from Malaysia and Japan. There are also eye-opening documentaries that recount legendary tales and migration stories, as well as blockbuster comedies that ensure everyone has a great night out. For the first time, they have expanded the programming team and dedicated a section to Taiwanese Indigenous works. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Taiwanese Indigenous cultures and highlight their values and voices, which are crucial to Taiwanese identity. The festival also features additional events, including a Pitching Competition to encourage emerging filmmakers to pursue adapted screenplays and international co-productions, Taiwanese Bookshelves to discuss the behind-the-scenes of the festival's opening night and the award-winning film Old Fox, and the iconic Short Film Competition.
