Baking is one of the oldest professions in the world, and was one of the earliest businesses on the Ballarat Goldfields, with bakeries operating as early as 1854. 1816 Bakehouse invites you to learn the ancient art of sourdough bread making from 1816 Head Baker, Josh Chapman. This class is on the 26 May, 4:00pm-6:00pm as part of the 2022 Ballarat Heritage Festival. Included in the ticket price is a glass of wine or beer; light refreshments and bread in three stages to take home: a sourdough culture, an unbaked loaf in your very own bread basket to take home, and a freshly baked loaf ready to eat.
