Hibernation

Starts: Saturday, 14 August 2021
Ends: Saturday, 28 August 2021
It’s the year 2030 and there is an immediate climate crisis. With little choice remaining, world leaders make a collective, pragmatic decision to save the planet. For an entire year, all 8.5 billion humans on Earth will hibernate. Gas will be launched into the atmosphere and the human population will be immediately plunged into a deep sleep, leaving the natural world to reset. The reset of the human world is not what was expected. A world premiere from South Australia’s Finegan Kruckemeyer and directed by Artistic Director Mitchell Butel, Hibernation takes audiences all over the world as citizens forge their lives in a new wilderness. An utterly original and transformative theatrical event, Hibernation brings together some of the state’s finest artists to tackle one of the most urgent issues of our time in a brave, unexpected and peculiarly Australian way.

COMMON TIMES

New to Common Times? Here's our Quick Start Guide to help you.

Common Times acknowledges the traditional owners, first storytellers and custodians of the land we live on. We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ongoing connection to land, sea, and community. Their sovereignty was never ceded.
