Family Fun Day

Starts: Sunday, 09 January 2022
Ends: Sunday, 09 January 2022
Fun for young and all will be had at Rotary Club of Yamba's Annual Family Fun Day. Mr Steve Machel has become the resident expert Sandologist for the Family Fun Day sand modelling competition and offers contestants hints and tips before this popular event at Yamba's Main Beach. Come down to Main Beach early and watch his design take shape using nothing more than sand, water, bucket, a butter knife and brush. Have family fun with sack races, 3 legged races, tug of war and fill a bucket with sea water relay before teams of four compete against each other in making their own sand modelling design. Cars, sea creatures, mythical animals, space creatures and the traditional sandcastles are seen each year. There is a junior section (under seven year olds) and a senior section (over seven) with trophies for the winning teams. Only natural items found on the beach can be used in the design and the use of normal beach bucket and spade is allowed to carry water and sand. There is a barbecue sausage sizzle held by Rotary and the beach kiosk is always open. $5 per family entry fee goes to Yamba Rotary for use on local projects.
