Earth, Fire, Water & Little Bit of Magic, The Art of Painting with Fire - Raku Ceramics

Starts: Sunday, 26 June 2022
Ends: Sunday, 24 July 2022
Enjoy the afternoon around the Campo de Flori woodfire oven pavilion as we pull pots and woodfire treats from the fire. Experience first hand the excitement of this ancient raku firing technique at the Campo de Flori farm in Glen Huon. Raku firing creates dramatic surface effects and is a much quicker process than most other ceramic firing methods. A ceramic piece is quickly heated to 1000 degrees in an outdoor kiln and then removed whilst still red hot and plunged into containers of combustible materials, providing unique metallic and crackle effects on the ceramic piece. Ceramic artist Lisa Britzman will provide you with inside knowledge on raku firing techniques. Each participant will receive a premade pot by Lisa ready to decorate with raku glazes, fire and take home. The afternoon is suitable for anyone from beginners to experienced ceramic artists. Depending on the number of participants, additional pots may be purchased to fire for $25 each. Warm drinks will be provided and David will be pulling warm treats of smores and flatbreads from the woodfire oven while we pull hot pots from the fire. Cost: $150 per person for a four-hour workshop. All materials, instructions, hot drinks and woodfired treats are provided. Limited to groups of 4 persons.
