Port Shorts Incorporated is dedicated to promoting screen culture and Port Douglas and Daintree as a destination and potential film location with the Port Shorts Film Festival. The Port Shorts Film Festival has been developed to showcase the best emerging filmmakers in Australia and around the world, attract film enthusiasts to the destination, promote Port Douglas as a premier location for film enthusiasts and provide pathways for participants to further develop their careers in the Australian film industry. Port Shorts Film Festival categories cater for young filmmakers, local filmmakers and the best short films from around Australia and the world with significant prize money on offer and the chance to be mentored by some of the Australian film industry’s most accomplished exponents. Wolf Creek and Rogue producer Matt Hearn and acclaimed actor Stephen Curry are Port Shorts, official festival ambassadors and judges, with Stephen also MC on both nights of the festival. As well as providing Port Shorts organisers with advice and industry links, the Port Shorts Masterclass Series attracts industry experts to share their skills with emerging filmmakers. The 2021 Port Shorts Film Festival will feature some of the best short films from our own backyard and worldwide produced in the last two years.
